I Started Helping Seniors With Medicare at 20 Years Old. Here Is Why.
Most people my age were figuring out college. I was sitting across the table from retirees, learning their stories, and helping them find the right plan. Seven years later, this is still what I do every day.
The Short Version of a Long Story
My name is Andy Childs. I am 27 years old and I have spent the last 7 years helping Arizona seniors navigate Medicare. That is not a typo. I really did start at 20.
It was not the plan. I did not grow up dreaming about insurance. But when I got the opportunity to help people who were confused and overwhelmed by Medicare, something clicked. I realized I was good at breaking down complicated topics into simple language. I liked sitting with someone, hearing about their doctors and their medications, and then showing them a plan that actually made sense for their life.
Seven years later, I have helped hundreds of families across the East Valley. I have seen plans change, carriers come and go, and new rules roll out every year. Through all of it, my approach has stayed the same: listen first, explain clearly, and never push someone toward a plan that is not right for them.
“When you call me, you get me. Not a call center, not a recording, not a rotating team of strangers. Just a real person who knows your name and remembers your situation.”
I am based right here in Mesa, Arizona. I am licensed, independent, and I work with multiple insurance companies so I can compare options side by side. That means I do not get paid more for recommending one plan over another. My only incentive is helping you find the right fit.
And if your situation changes next year? I am still here. I review my clients’ plans every fall during Open Enrollment to make sure they are still getting the best deal. That is not something you get from a 1-800 number.
How I Got Here
What I Believe About Medicare Help
These are the principles behind every conversation I have with a client.
You Deserve a Real Conversation
Medicare decisions are personal. They involve your doctors, your medications, and your budget. That is not something you should figure out from a website or a TV commercial. You deserve someone who will sit with you and talk it through.
There Is No One Best Plan
The right plan depends on your situation. What works for your neighbor might not work for you. I never start with a recommendation. I start by asking questions and listening to the answers.
Help Should Be Free
I am paid by insurance companies when you enroll, not by you. You pay the same premium whether you use a broker or go directly to the carrier. There is no markup, no hidden fee, and no catch. My help is genuinely free.
The Relationship Does Not End at Enrollment
Most brokers disappear after you sign up. I do not. I check in on my clients. I review their plans every year. If something changes with your health or your coverage, I want to know so I can help.
Independence Matters
I am not employed by any insurance company. I do not have a quota for any specific plan. When I recommend something, it is because I believe it is the best option for you based on your doctors, your prescriptions, and your budget.
Simplicity Is a Feature
Medicare does not have to be confusing. Most of the confusion comes from jargon and fine print. I explain everything in plain English so you can make a decision you feel good about.
My Promise to Every Client
“He helped me get all the medical care I needed and so much more. He explained everything to me in a way I could understand and helped me compare the programs to each other. He actually treated me with the utmost respect and helped me to decide which plan was best for me. I would absolutely recommend Andy Childs to anyone!”

I would highly recommend Andy to anyone who is struggling with any insurance issues, especially with the state. My Mom was at a complete loss, trying to navigate the state, which was super frustrating and really slow, and couldn't get coverage quickly when she lost her previous insurance. Andy really spent time helping her get the right coverage she needed and cut through all the struggles. Relieved a great amount of stress off her shoulders and got her back on the right track, and I couldn't ask for anyone better to help others than Andy!Posted on Joshua PulsiferTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you for helping my family navigate the complexities of insurance. I'll be honest, I have no idea how it works, but Andy was very kind and patient in answering my several questions. Would recommend.Posted on The SpaniardTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My parents were looking for information about Medicare and got all of their questions answered by Andy, who knew exactly what he was talking about. They feel much more confident and informed about their future options now!Posted on Reneè LiopardeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mr. Childs was very professional and extremely friendly, and made sure to help me every step of the way which wasn't easy as I had a lot of questions, paranoia, and anxiety for him to navigate, as insurance is Not something I understand very well. But he walked me through everything with patience, kindness and the kind of effort one does not generally get to see in customer service anymore. When we ran into issues during the switch from regular Medicare to the offered Advantage plan, he was "Johnny on the spot" and assured me he and his team would get it sorted ASAP. And within 48 hours everything was figured out and cleared up. He and his team are very reassuring and super helpful, exceptionally patient and knowledgeable about their stuff. Highly recommend working with him if you get the chance.Posted on Lance WilsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I'm going to tell u about my agent, Andy Childs....first off ...I'm a 65 year old and I had been on SSDI For approx.5 yrs, before I moved from CA. To AZ...I've lived in AZ. now for about 5 years...when I came here, Social Security had changed my income to SSI, ..which didn't help me ,..in fact , my income had decreased. This put me at a below poverty level of living..I had a very difficult time just to make ends meet.. I have alot of different things that I take medications for, and these medications r what keeps me alive...in 2024, my medications were all expired and I ran out of the most important ones ..I still didn't have a primary care doctor, nor did I have the money to pay a doctor, or get any help in finding one..I got very ill and was in a bad situation in May of 2024, ..I was hospitalized, and had to stay for several days bc I quit breathing and the paramedics were called , they got me breathing again in the emergency room..I was treated by the trauma team, and woke up finally after about 2 hrs...this changed my life,.. Social Security had once again changed me to being permanently disabled...I got a little more money, but still not enough to be able to live with the care I needed...in March of 2025, I finally got my notice from Social Security Retirement Benifits, and a Medicare Card,...I had no idea of what I was suppose to do , choose, or who to contact...this whole idea of now trying to organize a insurance plan, make choices, or even be able to pick who would be the best company for me considering all of my medical conditions.. in fact I shut down, and I was confused, scared, and almost gave up on life...I had applied with a health insurance company but only to be denied, I tried to understand the Medicare program but with no luck...the letters kept coming in the mail, yet I just had so many to try to consider...I got a letter from the Wellcare program , so I tried the phone number, and spoke with the agent...I couldn't believe how very considerate and calming this man was the very first time I spoke to him..he helped me to get all the medical care i needed and so much more...he explained everything to me in a way i could understand..and helped me compare the programs to each other. He actually treated me with the utmost respect and helped me to decide which plan was best for me...and believe me , it was not easy to do...so many questions, i had... He took the time to help me, every time I called, to answer back, to return my messages, and everytime he had a solution...I honestly don't know what I would have done had I gotten any one eles for an agent...Andy Childs is an excellent agent, he knows the in's and outs of the Medicare World, and he's a very kind person, with a big heart ♥..He gets 10 stars from me..and I pray I never loose him as my Medicare Advisor....thank you, Andy...for all u have helped me with.. Thank you, for ur kindness, ur honesty, and for being who u r.... Respectfully, ... Caryn Bouche....
